Since I am a patch manager at a large company I always wait for at least a week before I allow my systems at home to install any update unless it is classified a zero-day risk. If there are issues found by Microsoft they will be listed in those reports.
Every patch has a KB number reference or a listing such as MA13-094 (one with known issues for Office Outlook this month) that can be used to search. In the last few months Microsoft has had some pretty serious known issues with patches. I always recommend not installing all updates automatically IE11 is an listed as Important which means it should not install unless it is selected. I did what he did, went to my update list, ticked Internet Explorer 11, then clicked “uninstall “. Not easy to read and looked something a child would have put there! What are Microsoft thinking? Do they think we are all stupid and we want (unnecessary) updates to Internet 11 (which I don’t want as I prefer Firefox) and LOSE MY WIDGETS! Why? I followed the lead of Bill_S (posted Nov 7th) that he had lost his widgets or they had turned strange. I found out from a post on this forum that the update can muck up your widgets! I want my widgets. Right? No-wrong! I allowed installation of Internet Explorer 11 and it played havoc with my computer. I trust they should know what they are doing when they give us this stuff. I just did my pc updates on my windows 7 as instructed.
